the laundry room reno BEFORE

I am back with a sneak "before" peek of our laundry as we are about to start renovating it.
This is one room that was on our agenda to do this year yet was pushed back as other things got in the way. Now that we are building our new home we realised it needs to be done in order for the house to be sellable/rentable.
So Matt has searched and sourced a new trough. He has also contacted the same cabinet maker who made our kitchen cabinets and has an order in for a matching cupboard. We have additional kitchen tiles which we purchased last year to continue the flow of the tiles into the laundry. We have a floating shelf ready to install. All we need is time to spare to have someone here to do it.
You see, we are also renovating our toilet which is separate to the bathroom as it too needs an overhaul. So we need to find a time when we can somehow survive without a toilet for two days. Not sure when that will be but hopefully in the next month. It will be a good excuse to get away for a weekend.

So here is where it currently stands. It is hideous and extremely dated. I am rather embarrassed to even show you, however once I have the "after" photos then these pics will be great to look back on and see how far we have come.
When we moved in, the walls were a blinding aqua. I slapped a coat of paint on it and called it a day. We renovated other parts of the house but left this as it was - way down on our priority list. Now it is on top of our to-do list.
We won't be changing the structure of the layout as that will cost a lot of money. Instead, the washing machine/dryer combo will stay put one on top of the other. There is not enough space to fit the trough and those two side by side.
The door frame showing below leads into the kitchen. The squiggly lines you can see is old glue residue as there was once a folding door stuck on there. It was so revolting that we ripped it out quickly.

what a cute display of kitty litter and rubbish bins. I love how we have created a trash focal point. NOT

I cannot wait to get in there and start giving it a bit of style. I just can't believe how long we have put up with it looking this way for so long.

Has anyone else done any renovations? Or care to show their home in such a state?

A short post just to keep you in the loop.
Matt went on his merry way to work this morning, but not before going past landy to check out the latest.
Below is a photo he captured on his phone.

All the plumbing is in!!!!
Hazaah.
Things really are moving along quickly now.
Have a happy day.

I feel the earth move under my feet

Well the diggers did, I just took pictures of it.
That is right ladies and gentleman, gather round and feast your eyes on this beauty.
Finally there has been some movement.
We have gone from this...

 To this...

To where we are today.

Please, stop gasping at such a dramatic change.  (Actually the double story house in the back ground has come a long way hasn't it?)
In the latest picture you can get a good indicator of where our garage and entry way will be.
I have drawn a state of the art room by room sketch for you. And if there are any art dealers interested in this masterpiece, please join the queue as I will not be accepting offers under one million dollars.

See if you can possibly see the plans in the above image. Clearly it is not to scale, nor is it even straight, but what I am getting at is to show you the defined lines as to where the garage and entry way will be. Is it more clearer if you compare the design below which I have tilted to match the same way the house will be positioned?

Where we currently stand is all the pegs have gone down ready to set out the slab. It shows the "slab guys" where to pour it and where the walls will be etc.  If you squint hard enough you can see the pegs in some of the pictures.
Hopefully in the next couple of days we will be back with more photos of the plumbing as the pipes are now in.

I will leave you with this fun little image.
This is what the poor builders had to remove from our land. What a wonderful array of crap. They also noticed all the dog poop as mentioned in my previous post for all those still interested in being up to date with the latest doggy doo news.

So does anyone care to share their excitement when they first saw the soil where their new house will be? Any tips you would like to pass on. One tip that I would like to offer to people is to invest in a pair of gum boots as the mud you slosh through is enough to make a pig feel like home. I will take a picture of mine next time to show you what I mean.
